Jacob West is an expert in health care strategy and management with over 15 years’ experience in the UK and internationally. He combines an strategic advisory role to the Harvard Global Health Institute with a national role for the NHS in England.
In 2014/15 Jacob was a visiting fellow in Health Policy at Harvard School of Public Health, where he researched innovation in US health care. Prior to this Jacob was Director of Strategy at King’s College Hospital, one the largest academic hospitals in the UK. In 2013 he was invited to become programme director of the London Health Commission, working with the Mayor of London’s office to improve London’s health.
From 2003 to 2010 Jacob worked in a number of roles at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, ultimately as acting director. He advised two Prime Ministers on public policy in a range of areas including health, criminal justice, and education. Jacob has also worked as a senior policy advisor to the Premier in Queensland, Australia.
He has a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and his undergraduate degree in History and Languages from the University of Oxford.
