Oscar Edmundo Díaz is currently working at GSD+, a consulting firm based in Bogotá, Colombia, working in the fields of Transport, Urbanism and Project Structuring and Evaluation.

From 1998 to 2001, he was Special Advisor to Mayor Enrique Peñalosa, in Bogotá, developing special projects including studies on the international experience of BRT systems (Bus Rapid Transit), car restriction schemes, and bicycle paths. He was also in charge of implementing the Stockholm Award-winning First Bogotá’s Car Free Day, which led to a successful re­ferendum that approved an annual car free day and a total ban of private automobile use during peak hours by 2015.

From 2001 to 2004 he was Enrique Peñalosa’s Assistant at New York Uni­versity, advising developing country city governments in Latin America, Asia and Africa on BRT systems and NMT (Non-Motorized Transport). From 2001 to 2010 Mr. Díaz also worked for the Institute for Transpor­tation and Development Policy (ITDP), a New York-based Non-Profit Or­ganization.

Oscar Edmundo Díaz studied Finance and International Affairs at the Uni­versidad Externado de Colombia. He also obtained a Diploma in Business English from the Pacific Gateway International College, and a Master in International Affairs, Business Administration and Finance from the Co­lombia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
