Raphaël Languillon-Aussel is a Researcher at the French Research Institute on Japan
(IFRJ-MFJ) in Tokyo and Associate Researcher at the University of Geneva where he was
a lecturer for four years. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon,
having passed the French agrégation examination in geography and holding a doctorate
in planning, he conducts work on the relationships between planning dynamics, types
of policy regimes and the development of capital regimes. Since January 1st, 2023, he
has been coordinator of the research project “Housing undergoing a densification crisis.
Planning residential areas in line with land parsimony and spatial justice challenges” (Le
logement en choc de densification. Aménager les territoires résidentiels face aux enjeux de
sobriété foncière et de justice spatiale), as part of the program “The economic challenges
of affordable land and housing” (Les défis économiques d’un foncier et d’un logement
abordables (2022-2025)).
Raphaël Languillon was a senior research manager at La Fabrique de la Cité in 2019.
