Through Cities in Crisis: join our new cycle of meetings and publications

Like all organizations, La Fabrique de la Cité sees its projects disrupted by the health crisis. But because our mission is to bring people together and make them exchange their views, we intend more than ever to play our role in the intense circulation of ideas that seeks to compensate for the drastic reduction in social interactions.
This is why, with its mission of general interest, its multidisciplinary and international DNA and ten years of existence in the service of urban innovation and foresight, La Fabrique de la Cité today wants to play its full role in building the foundation of ideas on which to sustain, build or rebuild urban systems in the era of the first pandemic of the 21st century.
From the very beginning of confinement, La Fabrique launched a new editorial project entitled “Across Cities in Crisis“.

A world tour of cities in crisis

Every week, we bring together our community of elected representatives, researchers in the human, social or fundamental sciences, designers, town planners, architects, investors, builders and city technicians to continue our reflections on cities in the crisis and after the crisis. Those who think, design and bring the city to life express themselves in video “from their window” and talk about the crisis and the future:

Behind the words

The crisis also gives us the opportunity to question the concepts that will shape the post-crisis period. Each week, we offer editorials entitled “Behind the Words”, which are invitations to return to meaning. The “meaning” understood as “significance” of the words and concepts that structure urban policies and projects but also as “direction”: behind the words, what urban models, what models of society are proposed to us?

30 Minutes for Tomorrow

The Fabrique de la Cité is also taking part in the “30 Minutes for Tomorrow” series, during which Leonard, the VINCI Group’s foresight and innovation platform, brings together its partners and network of experts :
  • Toronto, from the “accidental metropolis” to “Google City”, with Marie Baléo, Head of Studies and Publications (in French)
  • Urban Resilience to the Challenge of the Health Crisis, with Chloë Voisin-Bormuth, Director of Studies and Research (in French)
  • When digital technology increases urban congestion, with Camille Combe, Project Manager (in French)
  • Did the coronavirus kill the smart city? With Cecile Maisonneuve, President of La Fabrique de la Cité  (in French)
